By using a classic matching game with a phonics twist, the app reinforces alphabet sound recognition by matching letter sounds to familiar phonetic pictures from previous apps in the series.

The app also offers the option to match pictures with the same beginning sounds, providing a preview feature for the matching games to enhance image memory and placement. ABC MAGIC PHONICS 6 builds on the skills learned in the previous apps of this series, specifically focusing on testing letter sound recognition. The default setting of the app is for the letters to be silent, encouraging the child to utilize their knowledge of letter sounds.

To facilitate learning, the app utilizes four different games that progressively increase in difficulty with correct answers and decrease in difficulty with incorrect answers. If a letter is guessed incorrectly, it is reintroduced later to offer another opportunity for correct identification.

Rather than focusing on letter names, this app emphasizes the sounds of letters as it provides a more effective approach to reading. Understanding letter sounds enables children to phonetically read, even without knowledge of letter names. While most children are familiar with letter names through exposure to the ABC song at home and in school, explicit instruction on letter sounds is often overlooked.
